I have had the incredible opportunity of being an Academy of Global Studies (AGS) student at Austin High School. It is a project based, globally focused community that challenges its students to think of things in a different and new perspective. Being apart of AGS has positively affected me as a student and as a individual in our global community.

The greatest thing about AGS for me was the small learning community. I greatly benefitted from having closer relations with my teachers and having the same group of kids around me for my entire high school career. It was nice having a close relationship with teachers because then I felt more comfortable asking for help and making sure I excelled in everything I set forth to accomplish in their classes. I have also made very close relationships with my fellow students which also helped greatly in getting through high school. AGS has been a great support group for me as a student.

Anther great part of AGS was its curriculum. Being globally focused it opened my mind to many new ways of thinking and analyzing. Being an AGS student I have not only met the requirements of a Texas high school, I have also met the requirements of a International Studies School Network (ISSN) program. I am now a more globally oriented individual. I have learned to look at things with different views, I have learned how to act on things that of importance to me and I have learned how to frame researchable questions and thoroughly investigate them.

AGS also has a challenging curriculum that has taught me a lot of vital skills like how to manage my time correctly and has showed me what areas I can improve on. AGS has taught me the type of person I hope to be when I graduate and has also helped me get there. I have made some incredible friends and memories and I feel well-prepared for the future.
